Lisa's UFO Challenge: March 2016

The project number selected for March in the #APQResolution UFO Challenge is #3. So this month, I will be working on "Where the Wild Things Are".

One of my all time favorite children's books is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I love the story, and never get tired of looking at the illustrations. So when I found a collection of Where the Wild Things Are themed fabrics a few years ago, I had to have them. I didn't have a plan for what to do with them, and I still don't. All of the fabrics have been laundered and pressed.

My goal for March is to come up with a plan for what to do with these fabrics. The five fabrics shown in the front I would like to make into a quilt, so I will plan on looking through some books and online for some inspiration, and decide on a pattern. If I get to cutting & piecing, that would be an added bonus!

The other fabric (the yellow one on top) is flannel, which I had bought at the same time with the thought of making into pajama bottoms or a bath robe (though I did just discover a label in the selvage stating "do not use for children's sleepwear" - should this worry me?). So I also want to find a pattern to use for this fabric.

  1. Children's sleepwear in the US is supposed to be non-flammable so regular cotton often has this warning on it--you can make PJs for yourself from it without worry. FYI, the federal rules about this are at http://www.cpsc.gov/pagefiles/118612/5132.pdf

  2. Interesting, thanks for that info Mary. That makes sense to me now - I was scratching my head wondering if there could be anything harmful in the fabric, which I couldn't quite imagine to be true.
